Jaylen Pittman
Jaylen Pittman is a PhD student in the Stanford Graduate School of Education, where he concentrates in the Learning Sciences and Technology Design (LSTD) and Developmental and Psychological Sciences (DAPS) programs. He is also an inaugural Technology and Racial Equity Fellow at Stanford’s CCSRE, in collaboration with the Digital Civil Society Lab and Stanford Human AI. His research employs theories and methods from computational psycholinguistics, natural language processing, cognitive neuroscience, social psychology, and AI. Currently, his work compares the language processing capabilities of humans and machines as they encounter implicit biases in text; his current area of interest is a linguistic and socio-computational account of first name name perception. A linguist by training, Jaylen earned his bachelors and master’s degrees in linguistics from Yale University and the University of California (Santa Barbara), respectively.
