Alaija Jones (she/her) is an undergraduate at Stanford University, pursuing a double major in Sociology and Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity with a concentration in pre-law. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Alaija is deeply committed to advancing racial justice through scholarship, advocacy, and community engagement. Her academic work centers on the structural roots of inequality and the transformative potential of legal reform, particularly within the criminal justice system. Alaija is a Ron Brown Scholar, recognized nationally for her leadership, academic excellence, and dedication to public service. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., where she upholds a legacy of civic responsibility and empowerment. Her professional and research experiences reflect a strong alignment with her values, as demonstrated by her work with the National Museum of African American History and Culture, where she has contributed to projects exploring Black identity, resistance, and cultural preservation. On campus, Alaija serves as a resident assistant at Ujamaa, Stanford’s Black-themed residence, where she cultivates a supportive and affirming environment for students of the African diaspora. She also leads as President of the Black Pre-Law Society, a student organization dedicated to empowering Black students pursuing legal careers through mentorship, professional development, and community building. Her leadership in these spaces reflects a deep commitment to racial justice, educational equity, and the cultivation of future changemakers.
